Dome Light Upgrade

A friend at work was telling me about seeing where someone upgraded their dome light to one with a dome and two map lights. Anyone have any information on the swap?
Thanks...Kelly

My truck had that. the guy i bought it from put it in. but the map lights didn't work and the base of it was made out of ply wood. It looked pretty ugly.
I just removed it and put an original back in. What it looked like on his install was he just soldered the original dome light wires to the assembly and a jumper wire to the map lights so when it was switched on the lights they would get power. but i guess the bulbs were burnt out or something. Hoped this helped a little at least.

the truck I drive at work ('96 Chevy C/3500 dump) has a dome lite with 2 integrated map lights in it. it looks stock to me.

I found one in the JC Whitney catalog for about $15. I have not ordered one yet.

I have looked and looked and looked with no luck so I finally gave up. If you want to cut the hump out then probably something could be made to work.
