need help!

ok i was goofing around in my truck earlyer and did a few donuts out in the middle of a dirt feild that my parents own. pulling out of the feild the truck stalled and when i got it to start again it would only run at about 3000 rpm anything slower and it would stall. i figured most likely it was the air filter so i replaced it. now it will start and runn at the higher rpms but at lower rpms it still stalls. my guess is i need to adjust the carb (stock 4bbl quadrajet) for a larger amount of air but have no clue what to do. i have dealt with holleys and am fairly used to them but the quadrajet is just confusing. any ideas of what to do or anything else that could have happened would be appriciated

check the brake booster vac hose. also might be stuck-sunk float.
carb adjust ment should not change from having a little fun.

Reverse the process by doing donuts in the opposite direction

Sorry, no help here, but when you're 32+ years old and someone take you out for "donuts" you'll need time to recover too.

the reason it might need adjustment is because the air filter was so dirty that i think it was getting little of no air and the air filter has been getting progresivly worse for the last 5 years (i know i know the air filter needs to be changed more often). and the new one is well... clean also there is no brake booster. how do i deal with a folat with as little work as possible because if i need to rebuild the carb i might as well bolt on the holley i have

Dude if it was running, then you goofed off and now it won't run, don't try to adjust the carb to fix it. Doing donuts won't cause the adjustment screws on the carb to move under their own power. You have a problem somewhere else. If you go jacking with the adjustments, you will now have 2 problems.

Trust me, I mechaniced for 12 years full time. Fix the new problem and then readjust the carb if it needs it then.

I agree with Tex. If it doesn't appear to be the float, or choke, the last thing would be vaccum. Either from the carb, or if you have an automatic, the "T" fitting at the rear of the carb, for the tranny, on the intake manifold.

i found that the problem was the float after tearing down the carb and after compairing the cost between rebuilding the carb and bolting on the holley i decided to go with the holley. another problem that i did not realize on the q-jet until today is that my choke was disconected and as far as i can tell there is nothing to connect it to.
