Exclamation 2002 seats in a 87 GMC

I justed recently purchased a pair of power 2002 chevrolet truck bucket seats. I need to know if any body else out there has tried to install them in a 87 gmc truck or similar body style.

Is it bucket seats or more like a split bench seat?

They will fit as well as the 88-98 seats will you just have to make some mounts to get them to fit and depeding on how tall they are you might have to chop down the stock mounts.

I had some 2001 buckets in my truck when I got it and they were just way too high. I had to duck my head to get into the truck. The way they were mounted was funky...they were welded to a 1/4 inch steal plate and that was mounted to the cab. I wasn't happy at all with them and found a bench and belts at a yard.

They won't work! OK they can be made to work, but it won't be easy. The design of the brackets won't allow you to install them low enough, and there isn't any way to cut the brackest down enough.

I suggest you sell them and try again...

I'm with N2TRUX. I went to 2 metal shops to see if there was anything I could do to make the seats work (I realy liked the seatbelt system in them) and they both said that it realy wasnt worth it. They would have to cut the brackets down but that would take much of the strength away from them. There was also the problem of the plastic skirt going around the bottom of the seats...would have to do some major fabercating to cut that to make room for the hump (that is why they welded them to that steel plate) for the seats to sit down over it.

Now the back seat out of a Tahoe of a similar year on the other hand can be made to fit real nicely in our trucks Has a flip down console with a cup holder in it, which is something I'd like, but it is still a bench, and doesn't have intergrated seatbelts...

i prefer a bench, because that way i can sleep easyer in the truck, but thats just me i know that the next body style (88 to 99?) doesn't have them.
