smog legal headers
Does anybody have or have seen smog legal headers that would fit a '75 350. They are going on a '81 so they need to have air injection ports for the air pump. Do they make these?

ok, I don't understand...do you want 75 Headers or 81 Headers? The headers I got, are for 75 C10's that DON"T have AIR Injection, rather a Dual-Diaphragm EGR Valve (Two Vacuum ports). Otherwise, all the major companies (Hedman, Hooker, Edelbrock) make headers with AIR Injection tubes. (aka: smog trees)

They are for a '75 motor but I need to pass smog for an '81 truck. Do you recommend any specific brand?

Aww, I see, well, a 350 is a 350, as far as headers go. I recommend Hooker, definately. Just give em' a call, and get a part #.

I just wanted to be sure. I thought that my 305 manifold would fit the 350 but the passenger rear cylinder has a different bolt pattern. Bummer.

The Edelbrock TES headers are also nice, a little pricy though. I have a set here waiting for install and they are a quality product. A few guys here are using them, Swervin Ervin is on who has a set on his truck.

Eddie is right. Edelbrock TES headers are smog legal. They are made for a y-pipe system like what would have come on a 81. The bolt pattern on manifolds are different between early and late small block heads. These headers will fit either.
Only drawback is the price. They ain't cheap by any means. I paid $350 for mine back in November of 98. I'm guessing they are quite a bit more now. Of course this is a complete setup with a new y-pipe and all.

To put headers on my truck in CA all I need is the SMOG sticker that comes with the approved headers, right?

Don't know. Someone who has done this in Cali will have to answer that question. The headers do come with all the CARB stickers. The Edelbrock TES headers are emissions legal in all 50 states.

Another vote for Edelbrock headers. Wouldn't consider anyone else.

Only downside of the Edelbrock headers is they are designed to be used with the heat riser/efe valve system. If you plan to use the y-pipe you need to keep your heat riser or weld something into that spot. I plan to weld something in there and will post pictures when I finally do my exhuast. If you plan to run dual exhuast (not using y-pipe) this shouldnt be an issue.
