Which tailgate trim should I use?

I have two tailgate trims...I have one from an 80's Silverado (The big shiny kind with the CHEVROLET raised letters on the passenger side), and I have the original 75 Cheyenne one (just covers the middle of the gate, and has CHEVROLET embossed in black).

That's the 80's style one...

Neither here too.

I kept the "CHEVROLET" script, but lost the handle.

On the back window but it wasn't a sticker.

Sorry, to jack your thread, Tim.

I was thinnin' of leaving it uncovered aswell...maybe sell both my gate trim's. I dunno though...I guess I AM kinda going for the "shaved" look. I need to pay attention, see if anyone has the 75 Cheyenne/Silverado trim piece there, and if no one does, then I'll do it

If you like the Silverado trim piece but want something a little different try this. Get a Blazer piece (no handle cut out) and flip your tailgate handle. If you buy a new one it doesn't have the holes for the "Chevrolet" letters in it....

That's an idea...but I'm going to have a rollpan just like BaggedC10's, so...I may just shave the gate, leave it bare, or have no gate at all...

I know I'm being picky here but this isn't an 80's one. Its from a Silverado from the 70's.

This is what the 80's ones look like.

I love this look.

That's what I plan on using with a flipped handle on my 86, bumper and all. I will use one from a blazer that still has the Chevrolet on it.

I agree Joe, that looks good. Ken has pics of a black truck with a similar setup.

Ok, by 80's I meant 81-87 and by 70's I meant 73-80.

If you end up wanting to get rid of that 75 Cheyenne Tailgate trim tell me I want first dibs. I'm going to restore my truck to look like N2TRUX. :p

I like the idea of the blazer band but I would rather have the 70's version without the black outline. That would look the best in my opinion. I want to flip the handle too.

i prefer no trim at all (like bigblock's pic above), theres none on my 76GMC and it looks damn good as is, i think the trim pieces distract the attention from the rest of the ass end like the bumper, chrome tips, etc
