I have a "69 Burb 3/4 Ton 2wd. It has a 10-bolt cover rearend, but it is not a GM 10 Bolt. It is also a Full-Floating Rear. Is this an Eaton Rearend??Does anybody know what gears this has w/o counting the revolutions???

Hi Chris...
It does sound like the Eaton...
Normally... if your truck is a V8 Auto.. the ratio is most likely 4:10.... A few of the 69 Big Block trucks had a 3:54..
The only way to know for sure what your ratio is....is to clean off the pumkin and look for the "Axle code" which will be stamped into the housing

This is what mine looks like, at least the bottom half of it.

I am no expert, but when I bought my burb, the PO told me that it was a Dana 60.

I believe that that one is a Dana 60. Mine doesn't look like that. Mine is more of a round shape...Thanks for the time tho...

What you have is an Eaton rear end. These were fairly common on Chevrolets throughout the sixties up until 70-72, I can't remember.They were replaced with a corporate 14 bolt in the early seventies. The Eaton has a round cover on the back and the pig will unbolt out of the front of the housing. It is also common for them to have locking differentials from the factory, if that sort of thing rows your boat. The three I own have 4.11 and 4.56 gears. Does anyone know if 3.73's were available? John

The eatons appeared in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks from '47-'72.
4.11, 4.57, and 5.14 gears were available from the factory, and there may have been a 3.73 set manufactured aftermarket, but is no longer available. There was a 3.90 set available aftermarket until recently. If your burb had a 350 originally, then it will probably have 4.11s. If it had the 250, 292, or 307, then it most likely has 4.57. If it had the 396, then the rearend should be a dana 60 with 3.54 gears, but may be a 4.11 eaton. And as previously mentioned, it may have a factory No-Spin (Detroit Locker).

Thanks for the help guys...What is the easist way to check if it had a 307 in it? It currently has a 350. I am sure it came with a SBC originally. The 350 is not the original engine.

The VIN only states that it came witha V8, not what size. The glove box sticker does not state anything about the rearend or RPO code H052 or H072...but it is definately an Eaton Rearend, just don't know what gears it has...
