Pully ?
Can i just put the power steering pump in a vice or pound the pulley back on with a hammer? Nobody in town has a pulley installer, I bought a remover but will I screw up the pump by pounding the pulley back on?

Don't pound it back on. You'll ruin the pump.
All you need is a washer, bolt that fits the threads in the front of the pump shaft (about 4" long, get an all thread bolt) and a nut. Put the nut on the bolt all the way, put the washer on the bolt. Put the pulley over the pump shaft then thread the bolt into the pump as far as you can. Hold the bolt and tighten the nut, pressing the pulley on the pump. I got the bolt, nut and washer with my last few pumps I've bought as their method of installing the pulley.

Ocbaud: I've had great luck with these types of pullers on my power steering pulleys: (They're inexpensive to buy, and are probably rentable/loanable, too.) DJS |

This is one of those tools that you should have just to save the frustration of trying to find one when you need it. Joe |
