What did you get done?

It's that time again boys and girls. The 73-87 version of what did you get done this wkkend?

I actually got a little bit done on my 77. I need to take it to have the state inspection done. On my last road trip I realized the high beam indicator wasn't lighting up. Hmmm? I know it was working before. Maybe I can reach the buld "without" pulling the gauge cluster......Yeah right! I could "touch" the socket but that's about it.

Sooooo I pulled the gauge cluster bent the little copper tabs on the socket and cleaned the connects for good measure. The light is working again

What did you get done?

WOW for once I have actually done some work on my truck! Fixed my NonStart/Fuse blowing problem. Turns out the inline fuse the PO had put in there was suposed to be a fusible link. And with the high temps we have been having and the newer more powerful alternator i put in in the winter caused the fuse to blow. I also installed new Longer glass packs which seem to make it a deeper tone and alot less crackling im pleased with that outcome.

Saturday I worked my second job, attended a grad party afterwards. Sunday I painted some of my underdash pieces (getting ready to install the column and pedals), packaged up my old tilt column and TG trim piece, and watched the race.

Changed oil in my newly re-aquired K-10, greased everything, tightened loose shock and swaybar brackets and got T-Case to go into Lo-Loc again (thanks Longhair) I also rotated tires and stripped one lug nut/stud--gives me something easy to do tomorrow/

Unfortunately, nothing got done, as far as my truck is concerned, unless you count checking all of the fluids in preparation of the oncoming work week. I charged the A/C in two friends' vehicles, diagnosed a faulty coil pack in another friends vehicle and studied Swervin's Q-Jet article some more. Maybe next Sunday, after Summit and Eastwood drop some packages off at my door, I can tell you all how I restored my Q-Jet.

lots of neat stuff done this week, but not much this weekend.

did some trial fitting on my 52" springs up front, removed all of the AC stuff from my truck, and began to install a factory heater box. now all i have to do is finish the install, put my dash back together, and cut a hole for the trans hump and my cab will be done.

made 2 deals last week, one on another virgin K10 SWB frame, its cheaper than having mine fixed. also made a deal on a complete 6.2 diesel with 80,000 mi on it.

I removed the Western Chassis stuff and installed some new HD springs and the original spindles, but only on the driver's side.

So, I now have a 4" drop on one side and a 2" lift on the other...temporarily...

I got my double hump crossmember fitted, new holes drilled, painted, and installed. This was after ripping out my old exhaust system in preparation of the new system coming soon.

BTW, this is the new exhaust system I keep speaking of.

Nothing to the trucks. I did get the lovely job of interior painting @ the 'new' house. We got the living rm, dining rm, hallway, master bedrm, upstairs hallway, & upstairs bedrm re-painted between Fri afternoon & 4am Sun morning. We had tickets to the Ranger game Sun afternoon (in a lux suite no less) so it had to be finished.

I'm tired. Now we get to move . . ..... first, the beater needs a clutch.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

I got my block and crank cleaned up, checked the main bearing and pistion to wall clearances. Got all the pistons/rods ready to check the rod bearing clearances in the morning. Then I hope to check and install the rings and pistons for the LAST time. Then I hope its smooth sailing. I wont have anymore trouble after that, I've just never put together a bottom end before so I'm nervous about screwing up so I'm just taking my time to make sure everything is right.

This engine building stuff is taking longer than I thought.

Pulled apart the passenger door panel and took the cluster apart and cleaned out all the dust. Pulled out the speaker wiring to run new wire.

Well, I figured they would sound good at high rpm. Altlhough the smell of burning hair might be bad for a while.

I actually got a little bit done to both of my trucks. I picked up a grungy set of rallys a few weeks ago with white letter tires. Once it quit raining today, I repainted them and cleaned up the caps and rings, then put them on the '87. That made quite a difference. I need to go get a new set of lug nuts, though. Whoever's idea it was to put those caps on there should be severely beaten.

On the Blazer, I got the tilt column in, the 18's on, the trans cooler mounted, and a bunch of extra wiring torn out from under the dash.

I also moved a bunch of stuff in the garage, so I can almost walk around the Blazer.

Amen to that! I bet I've spent $100 in lug nuts in the last three years. Not to get anything fancy mind you, just to get regular acorn lugnuts so I could be sure I could get them loose after I had put them on!

*****ed at wife and kids about leaving trash in the 88 Burb. If they don't start cleaning up after themselves they will have to quite driving it.
Nothing on the burb but cleaning out door pockets.

75 K5 Is just sitting. raining nonstop and it sort of stinks driving with the top on.

Worked on 4Runner all weekend. can't get it to run right.
