'71 Center dash a/c vent replacement...
Does anyone know how the center dash a/c vent is attached on a '71? I have a replacement vent which has two threadless holes on the back. Can it be replaced from the front? I can't get behind it without removing the radio, a/c controls etc.... I'm considering prying the old one off from the front but maybe there is a better way.

Don't pry it out! Those two threadless holes have studs that go in them and then go thru a plastic tube into which you A/C hoses are attached. It needs to be taken off from the rear, I know a PITA. I also tapped those holes to fit the studs don't remember the size/thread count. You may or maynot also have to loosen the dash speaker.
