sent you a PM I have a one I am not sure what year truck it is from I will look at it tonight to see the markings on it. It is a 12 bolt truck series 3. I bought it a year or so and never installed it, my plans (as usual) have changed. I will take 100 dollars plus shipping. I got it from a guy on the board so I dont know much history on it.
Thanks
Dave

yes it requires a series 4 so it will not fit the standard 3.73, it will however fit the "thick" aftermarket 3.73 gear set.
crm318 I have responded to you PM. I will mark it as sold I will get you the shipping weight and have it ready to go.
Thanks
Dave

i'm confused. so you are saying a stock 3.73 gear has to be used with a 4 series carrier, but you can use an aftermarket 3.73 in a 3 series?

If this link works it lists a 3.73 gear set for the series 3 carrier. This is a special gear again my understanding is that it has a thicker ring gear to space it properly. I have seen them referenced in different catalogs (Summit)
Somebody else chime in with any more info or to set me straight?
But yes the stock 3.73 will not work with this series.
