Howling Noise from Right Front ??

Hi I purchased an 1998 Chevy Blazer 4x4 in Nov 2002 and LOVE It!!

It is fully loaded with all well most of the options.
In March I did the rear brakes ( Rotors, Calipers, Pads)

Today I did the Rotors, Pads on the front. ( had bad pulsing on brake pedal)

No big deal, Parts go and need replaceing. Rear Brakes I did myself and parts
ran me $ 503.95 CDN.

Just did the Front brakes Today ( Rotors, pads) calipers were still good :-)
which ran me $201.20 CDN.. this is the ONLY money ive put into it since buying it in 2002 so i'm pretty happy.

anyhow just have a few questions

Ive got a howling noise comeing from right front engine bay area it gets louder as you drive and quits to a stop as you slow down to a complets stop

any idea whats causeing this?

also while i had the truck off the ground today i checked the ball joints and all steering componments and everything was tight and was also greased when i was finished my inspection.

Ok ONLY have 2 complaints about this truck

1. ( problem listed above)

2. From a complete stop you hit the gas to take off and you get a shimmy in the front end / steering wheeling for a split 2 seconds then is goes away?

if i could get these 2 problems fixed this would be awsome.

thanks
guys

later Dave.

My rear differential of my 2wd '96 was making a howling noise. I think it was something wrong with the bearings in the front differential (just a guess though). I'm ending up swapping out the whole rear end for a new one, since I was having trouble with a bad drum too.

You should probably have someone that knows about differentials take a look at your front.

Good luck.

Just a quick though too, when I pulled my left rear axle out of my '96, I noticed there were bearings right before the end of the axle is (right before the plate with the lug nuts). It could possibly be those bearings that are screwed up.

Without hearing what your hearing it's hard to diagnose but if it sounds low in the front near your tires it could be the bearings, but if it sounds like it's in the engine bay it could be either your powers steering pump or ac whinning. get somebody with a good ear and mechanical skills to listen to it, that should head you in the right direcction.
