70 2wd GMC Jimmy

What's a ballpark figure for a low optioned 6 cylinder 2wd GMC Jimmy with the usual rust areas (Not Gee Emm type rust, it still has rocker boxes, but the rockers and front of the rear qtr are shot)? I may have found one...

Vin Starts with CSxxxxxxx

Thanks, Rg

What condition is the rest of the rig in? I would say in the $1500-2500 range if it is rusted.

Surface rust under neath, body is straight and it has never had a repaint. The seats (Utility buckets) are in bad shape. Has the double wall top, but no back seat. Has radio delete. It is running and I am supposed to see the owner later this week to see about driving it (I saw it while driving and talked to his wife...) The drivers door opens well but the hinges on the passenger seem to be tight. It is all there for what that's worth.

I've never seen a truck with so few items on the glove box label! It has about 4 things listed.

It's that olive green looking color.

I'm hoping he'll give me a good deal, but they are hard to come by in any case.

Thanks, Rg

I appreciate the offer, I got out of the 4x4's, seems they always cost me more in the long run!

Looks pretty nice and complete. Some rust, but not too bad. How do the floor boards look? What about the rocker boxes. I would guess up to $3,000, but that is just because it is a 2wd Jimmy and they are few and far between. Even less of these on the road than the 2wd Blazer.

I have been trying for quite a while to find a pic of a plain jane Jimmy.

This is a little more fancy then mine, I have no trim at all. Now the ultimate question I have is, does it have the white paint on the letters on the tailgate? Those pics are great to see since I will be running painted bumpers on the front and back.

Does it have power brakes?

Just to confirm the question in your signature, it has to be a 70 since they didnt make any 2wd's at all in 69

Gee Emm, it doesn't have the white paint on the letters that I can remember. I have paid for it but won't pick it up until Saturday (the gas line is clogged and it will only run with gas poured in the carb...) Once I get it I will look it over pretty good and post anything I find that I feel is odd or interesting. It does have a spare tire carrier behind the drivers seat, first I've seen in person...

No power brakes, this was a bare bones truck, no power brakes or steering, straight six 3 on the tree(has a 350 auto now). Only things listed on glove box were olive green paint, rear seat (missing), utility buckets, green vinyl trim.

I take back the no repaint, looks like there has been some spot painting done at some time or another.

Yeah, I figured out that my first 2wd is a 4wd 69 tub on an original 2wd 70 frame. At least I got it cheap!

You're an inspiration to me Gee Emm, I have some welding to do on this one but I plan to keep it basically stock with the exception of better running gear. I like this truck because it hasn't been majorly changed and nothing is missing (except the rear seat...)

LUVS2XCLR8, thanks, I need all the luck I can get!

Hmm, I thought all Jimmys with 6's had power brakes, maybe thats only 71's and 72's

Cool that you have the tire carrier, I hope the sticker is still there that shows how the jack and everything is stowed. We need someone to take a picuture of that decal so it can get reproduced.

Congrats on the purchase. If you don't mind, what did you end up paying?

If it had a rear seat, why would the spare tire carrier be behind the drivers seat?

Bouncy, hey that's kinda personal! Nah, i don't mind, I gave $1,000.00 for it (he priced it to me and I think he thought I would turn it down, he is an older guy who has had it for 14 years and his brother-in-law had sold it to him, so it's a three owner including me)

I just about did a happy dance when he priced it, but thought it might have been inappropriate... It was less that I expected and the wait just about kilt me...

About the tire carrier, I have no idea, I'll double check the glove box but I'm sure it said rear seat. Chevy and GMC have been known to do some strange things...

Saturday I'm gonna take some better pics of things I think are weird...
