Priming Glitch

I 've got a 454 that i'm going to put into the 79 blazer I just picked up . The motor is a rebuild with 30,000 mi that I had sitting for a while so I figured it should be well primed before starting it up. I bought the correct chevy BB priming tool and ran it in the block with a drill for about 10 min while I rotated the engine several times but 3 of the push rods would not bring oil up to the rocker arms . The inside of the engine is spotless with not a speck of crud any where ( again 30,000 mi ) so I doubt if they could be blocked and I ran this motor for about an hour before I pulled it and it was completely quiet with no rocker noise at all so i am at a loss here why I am not getting oil on those three rockers . How long should an engine take to completely prime ? Should I try a faster drill for more pressure ? actually any ideas . Thanks .

If you primed it that much it should be fine.. I would either pour oil over the rockers before you start it, so they're not dry OR a better idea, but more time consuming is apply assembly lube to the rocker tips AND pour oil.... Let the engine run and prime itself..

Ive seen some motors that take MINUTES of running to bring oil up to the rockers... I wouldnt beleive it if I hadnt seen it with my own eyes...

Especially since you know the condition of the engine (sounds like you used to run it before) I would just GO 4 IT
