My friend offered me a factory 4bbl aluminum intake that came off of his 83 Trans Am with a 305. Would it be worth my while to put it on a 69 GMC 3/4 ton with a 350. It is currently a factory 4bbl truck but I figured the aluminum would reduce some weight, and maybe, just maybe the TA manifold flows better?

There a good intake for a stock alum.
Ive got a couple one of the local machinsist says there as good as a performer edelbrock he says its a similar intake but there cross drilled between the planes. you will have to make an egr blockoff plate of have an egr valve thats the only down side to them. |

They arent that good, but better than the mid seventies cast iron intakes. They are a low rise intake to fit under the low hoods of the F bodies. Find a good used Performer RPM or similar intake, much better to begin with. If the 305 intake is free, then I guess you wont be out much except gasket costs, might be worth trying out.

I would look around a bit, you should be able to score a good used Performer for around $30-40. the Ta intake will work, but I doubt that you will see much improvement over the stocker. crazyL

I would not even bother, it will have provisions for EGR, and a host of smog attatchments that you quite frankly do not need. I would do as suggested and find a Performer manifold made for your year of truck. (with no smog)

That intake is about equivalent to a normal Performer. Other then having the EGR passages its not too bad.

Its lower profile than a performer but not much. Its designed for emmissions so it will be a little more restrictive than a performer and especially a Performer RPM. The Performer RPM was designed similar to the old 70-72 Z28 intake, high rise dual plane for good low end power with better top end power than the low rise.
