OT - Pulling '72 Van Engine
Going to pull the 4-bolt out of the '72 van and thinking it comes out the passenger side or big sliding door. I don't see any chance to pull from front unless Mr. Sawzall takes care of the core support! Anyone done one of these?

I've never personally done one, but I have a friend who has. He r&r'd the engine in his 68 G10 through the side doors, using a forklift. That's all the help I can be, I'd ask him about it, but he's out of the area now.

Van
I pulled one from a 76 a few months ago. What a pain in the a$$. It was a real rust bucket. I pulled it from the front. Mr torch and Mr sawzall were very happy. They got to eat a good meal...I even had to wack the motor towers. If I had to do it again, I'd try it from the side. Brian

Thanks guys! I think I will try from the side. This van has a rocking 4-bolt with a Holley carb. The van is going to the junkyard but the engine is a keeper.

Actually the core support top unbolts in a matter of minutes and it will slip right out the front if you got a cherry picker.

When I worked at the Chevy place in '70, they pulled them out the front with a forklift.

Stano is right. unbolt the top of core support. I try to be somewhat gentel as someone else might need the support from junk yard later. while your at it get the accesory mounting brackets. the PS set up is pretty neat.

I don't see where the core support unbolts but will pull the grill and have another look. It would be nice to pull from the front if possible since I want the radiator and will have to pull all that anyway. I need to put another engine back in before I call the wreckers to haul it off. I really don't want to mess it up since someone might want this thing for parts.
