Anyone got any suggestions for cleaning/polishing diamond plate aluminum running boards? I started with the polishing compound and got to thinking there's got to be a better way... It'll take a whole can of compound and many many rags at this rate! Mine are pretty oxidized, years of neglect on them.

I have a set that's in pretty good shape off my Burb. They were on it when I bought it and I hate them. So now they are in the back yard.
Why don't you just come pick up mine for free.

NeverDull works the best but the bad thing about Diamond Plate is that it takes too long to keep up. The liquid compound and buffer is just going to leave black spots on all the diamonds. Rub neverdull on and wipe it off. Still going to need good ol' elbow grease though.

Don't believe I'll be in your neighborhood anytime soon, but thanks for the offer! Guess I'll just do it the hard way - thought I might ask, you never know when someone has a cool trick that will work.

Just a followup, I tried a product called Alumi-brite on the running boards last night. That sure cut the oxidation and crud off. Nice and brite aluminum now, still needs polishing but at least it looks clean. I think it's a muratic acid or something similar, but it sure worked good.
