Bed Caps, Tailgate Caps, Etc.

[Orange '71 GMC]

Looking for the bed caps and tailgate caps (possibly header cap as well) for my '71 GMC. Like these Bed - Tailgate

Anyone know where to find such items for the 67-72 line? I have only been able to find them for the newer models.

I'd check the Stylin' Concepts website or catalogue, maybe even LMC or Year One... or even a local parts store chain like Pep Boys / Kragen...they should be able to get something.

If you don't have any luck, I do have a tailgate piece, new that a neighbor gave to me after it did not sell at his yard sale...box is hammered but the piece is in great shape. Not that I am looking to sell it, but most everything has its price.

I'll check to see what company made it later and get back to you.

The old one I have is an E-Z Gaurd tailgate cover, if that helps, but it looks as if it is an old product.

Several years ago I came up dry in a similar search, though I did find that some for a Dodge (maybe late eighties?) were a pretty close fit. If you don't find anything, find a truck accessory store and go through their stuff - you might get lucky.

Well - I haven't found anything yet...so I am probably just gonna make some. I work at a machine/fabrication shop, so I have the necesarry tools available. I was just hoping to get lucky I guess.

LMC has 3 choices smooth stainless, aluminum diamond plate, and black vinyl. Page 92 of the summer 04 catalog. 120.00 for a set. You should probably give Tim a Christians Classics a call. He has some great deals. Good Luck!

I found that the tail cap and header cap from dee-zee for 73-80 trucks fit quite nicely and only cost around 25 bucks. This is on my 68 and look fine
How ever bed caps are wider and require work to bend,cut and fit from a
shop qualified to do such work. Better of to buy those correct ones.
