help, can't make up my mind, opionions wanted

I am having a hard time making up my mind on what to do. I have the hugger orange 72 lwb 2wd truck that you see by my name. I thought that i wanted to swap this truck over to a 4wd, so i bought a 3/4 ton chassis from teeitup that had a th400/205 combo and 396 fully rebuilt. Shortly after i bought it, i decided that maybe i wanted to leave the truck the way it is and start to build another truck. But one of the major problems with the 2wd is too much power, and i keep breaking transmissions, so i thought the th 400 would solve that problem. Also, i built the orange truck when i wasn't married, so i used a lot of good parts that i couldn't buy today (with my husband duties)

So my question, if this was your truck, would you convert it, or leave it and put together another truck that wouldn't be near as nice?

The 2wd is in no way stock.

I know that it is my truck, and i should do what makes me happy, but i'm really stumped on this one guys. All ideas appreciated.

Thanks
David

If it were me? I'd build that TH400 bullet-proof, stick it in the orange truck and use any remaining parts to build an "I don't care what it looks like as long as it scares the neighborhood kids and runs like a bat out of hell" 4WD.

i'll second that! one thing though....the orange truck is a fast play toy so you say.well the 4wd you might want to go the other way and make it a close to original truck. something that can perform, but is easier on the wallet. a turbo 400 for the orange truck will cure it.

I know this is not an original thought as the other members have suggested it already, but I am a "me too". Install the TH 400 in your existing truck and build up a 4x4.

Four wheel drives, even when rough are cool!

husband duties can really damper the funds and time to work on our projects.stick the 400 turbo in your hugger orange and piece another truck together just to get time away from husband duties.

I'm of the same thought as well...

He!! yes, im with the rest of the guys....you built a hotrod for fun! stuff a fresh 400 t in it, you wont break it too easy! i ran a stock overhaul , that I did on a 400 T for ten yrs in my longhorn......not high miles, but beat to he!!. that thing ran 2 hopped 455 Olds mills, a 425 Cad, & was gutted & stuck in a Chev case (nothing but seals on the swap)to run a mild 355, & spent some time behind my 383. i also agree on the 4x4, I have the ulgyest(is that a word) 78,79, & 80 K 20 (yes, all in 1 d@mn truck!) with a flatbed, & a camper special stack on the rear ,I can haul a ton on that old truck ....no problem. in low range on the T case, I can pretty much push a 4000 lb vehicle anywhere I want(sideways!) Dont ask about that tho... crazyL

Put together another truck that is not nearly as nice is my vote. Any good 4x4 should be "used" and have "character".

Some people pay paint and body men good money to acheive a patina that these beauties have "earned"

Looks like everyone is headed the same direction, but i don't know how to convert the 400 turbo (which is already hooked to the 205 case) to a 2wd, anyone have any idea?

thanks for the help guys, i can always count on you all to help me make up my mind.
