71 C10 engine decision help needed.
I have a 454bb with only the intake manifold and harmonic balancer. Nothing else. Also have a complete 1975 olds 350 drivetrain complete still in the Cutlass. This may be a no brainer to some, but which will give me the most difficulty in getting this truck running? Considering time and money, both options will require mods to the truck, right? Can't decide which way to go.

You're probably better off passing on both and just look for the right 350 chevy to come along. It's not like they are hard to find already running good and ready to drop in.

A 350 is certainly a good choice but if you are looking at costs and high performance is not needed, a good 307 might be an option to look at. They are plentiful, run really good, (not as much power as a 350) and are readily available for a very low cost, (or possibly a trade).

305 engines work well in our trucks. They are similar to the 307's in the power department but they hold up well. We have one truck with a 305 engine in it and it does fine.
