WOULDN'T IT BE NICE IF WE COULD TELL THIS ABOUT TRANSMISSIONS???
IF YOU ABUSE ANYTHING IT IS GOING TO BREAK, SOONER OR LATER.

67chevyc10stepside,
This is a 5 speed tranny that came out of a 1995 camaro with 53k miles. I bought the 3.4 engine and 5 speed tranny together for an engine swap into a 1966 MG Midget, but only could use the engine. (I need a different tranny) I can't really tell you much about specs, but some tranny websights can. It comes with a V-6 60 degree eng bellhousing. If you want to change it over to a V-8 eng, you will need to get a 90 degree bellhousing, probably from a V8 truck or a 4.3 V-6. I was told the T-5 can hold up to a V-8 pretty well. If you want it to go behind a V-8 you will need to also get a different clutch as the V-6 is smaller and the shaft is a different spline count than a V-8 shaft ( I think the V-6 is 14 and the V-8 is 26 or 28, not sure though.). I am under the understanding that the clutch is fairly easy to find from a parts store or hot rod shop. It will be a clutch with a spline count of 14 (V-6 tranny) but the size for a V-8 clutch. I was told the internals on both trannies are the same, just slightly different gear ratios and spline differences.
Like Junkard said, I can't tell you how much abuse this tranny can take. I am definately not an expert. I do know they have put this same tranny behind fullsize trucks with V8's and Ford used them on their V8 Mustangs for a long time. I hope this helps a little. Let me know if you are interested.
Shawn
BTW: I took the intake apart on the engine and checked out the engine real good. It appears to be in Great shape, so I would assume the tranny would be in the same kind of shape since they both came out of the same car. But as with anything I haven't tested myself, i can't gaurantee that.

The shifter was supposed to be part of the deal when I bought it from the engine/tranny distributor. When I got the engine and tranny the shifter as well as the slave cylinder were missing. I have been arguing with them for a month now about this and they say they don't supply those items, but said they would see if they could find one for me. I think I basically got blown off. Seeing as to how the shifter can be picked up from a junkyard for 20 bucks and a new slave is around 50 bucks, I decided to quit fighting the fight. I am taking a pretty large hit on the price I'm selling it for and it just isn't worth my time to continue to argue with them, or go out and find the replacement parts since I'm not going to use this tranny anymore. I think the price on the tranny is very fair, even without these extra parts.Besides, most people would replace the slave cylinder with a new one anyway. They are also 'helping me out' a little by letting me ship from their location, so I can get a better shipping rate for the buyer. Hope it's about as clear as mud now!

I think the bellhousing might be around 50.00. The slave cylinder would be around 50.00 new. I looked and it looks like it has the 26 spline input shaft. I will give you the pressure plate and the clutch plate that comes with it also, but I think you might need different ones for a v-8 flywheel. I would guess a good set new to be around 100.00, but I don't know for sure. Overall a very cheap setup for a good 5 speed.
