Brakes Question

I replaced a lot of stuff on all 4 wheels this weekend (drums, shoes, cylinders, most springs). I bled each cylinder. Now when I was driving up and down my driveway to adjust everything, we noticed only the front tires were grabbing. The rear tires kept rolling and didn't seem to be braking.

We listened to it while it was running and I was pumping the brake. A "swooshing" sound came from right behind the booster each time I pumped it.

Could this be the culprit? Or is something else keeping my rear brakes from working properly?

Thanks for any help.

Yes it sounds like your master cylinder is out, they are cheap and an easy wway to atleast "investigate" the situation more.

you need to adjust shoes manually before bleeding. otherwise the combo valve will not let rears do anything. the woosh you heard is normal due to the long travel of pedal & being out of adjustment.

Hmmm...we replaced the master not too long ago. The swooshing is coming from the rubber plunger deal behind the booster. We might replace both the booster and master I guess.

I'm pretty sure we adjusted first before bleeding.

Thanks for the ideas so far. We need to bleed the entire system anyway, so maybe that'll clear things up afterwards.
