Lower A Arms ?????
I had my coil spring drop down through the spring pocket on my 79 1/2ton today. I have an 86 parts truck sitting. i plan to take the one arm off the 86 and put it on my 79. Does anyone know if the arms are identicle or not? I figure they are but don't know for sure. Also, I read up on the procedure, do I have to replace the two u-bolts that hold the arm to the frame or can i re-use them? Can anyone give any advice before I start tearing it apart tomorrow?

The arms will interchange, providing both trucks are 1/2 ton. You don't have to replace the U-bolts, you can reuse the best of the ones you have. Make sure the dowel pins on the cradle are lined up correctly with the holes on the shaft in the A-arm, and you are set. You might want to check teh ball joints and bushings while you are there.

The large rubber ones that flex where the arms pivot.
