I have an edelbrock performer intake manifold. Its a nice intake manifold and everything but I HATE the provision next to the carb on the passenger side (hot air choke, etc.). Its makes it very difficult to tighten and lossen the bolt between the hot air choke provision and the egr provision.
Who makes a nice intake manifold for sbc's with egr provision but not the hot air choke provision?
Do I need to go back to stock manifold to get away from this?

I may be willing to trade my edelbrock performer for one without the hot air choke provision (maybe even stock).

But this one is for 1987-1995.
Notice that it has egr provision but does not have provision for exhaust-heated chokes.

get that one eddie then just modify the bolt holes, pretty easy stuff...

What do you mean modify the holes?
I dont know what the difference between pre 1986 and 1987 +.

What about intake bolt with smaller diameter heads? I have a Performer on my 73 vintage 350 that looks like the one in your photo. I used ARP bolts and have not had any problem getting the bolts tight.

The one in the picture is not the one I have.
The edelbrock intake comes with a smaller head bolt but its still too tight of a fit and an options I will never use on this truck.
I will most likely end up getting a allen wrench head bolt to use there instead.
I would like to find a different manifold though, I dont like the look of the heat choke provision.
This one is more like I have (notice the extra provision next to the egr):

Eddie,

the difference between the first style heads and the 87-95 TBI heads is the intake bolts are angled different. You can modify the intake with a die grinder to make the bolts fit at the correct angle by just grinding out the holes...
