sm465 $$$$$$$$$$

Anyone have a idea what a sm465 and bellhousing is worth. I heard alot of those jeep juys use them behind their v8's for hill and rock climbing. I want to swap it with a 700r4 in my 68 c-10.
Thanks

I've heard those jeep guys like the SM420 but maybe their after the SM465 as well. It's worth more as a 4wd tranny as apposed to the 2wd version. Around here (Southern Oregon) a 4wd tans in good condition is worth about $200. The 2wd version of the same tranny is worth about $100. Hope this helps......

Are you sure it's a SM465? Is reverse towards the driver and down or towards the passenger and down? I thought the SM420's were still used in the 68's and I notice you have a 68 in your thread.

Mule, you are correct, that is an SM465 if that's the shift pattern. The prices I gave are what I would expect to pay if I went looking for one in my area. I also got a deal on my 465 and married 205 case, I only paid $200 for mine, bellhousing back.

The 4X4 tranny will have a short 10 spline output shaft. A 2WD version will have a long 32 spline output shaft, and will normally have the tailhousing still attached to the tranny.

actually the 2wd is 35 spline. 465's that had the 32 spline shaft came in front of NP208's and later NP205's.
