What is the round object that sits to the driver side of the......

distributor? Is it the cruise control? It has vaccum lines running to it and it real close to the dizzy.

Yep, sounds like your cruise servo. Does it have a rod running to the throttle linkage?

didn't notice but probably not as it has an Edlebrock carb and it does not work.

if it is about the size of a 32oz gatorade bottle as far as diameter, and it is colapsable like a lung and is mounted to the intake then yes it is part of what is left of the cruise. a pic would help alot as well..
