Oil Filters ???
A couple of years ago, we had a member that really did some Phenomenal research on Oil filters, He did a complete breakdown of all brands of filters. The actual testing results of the micron sized particals that the filters, filtered. The one's you think are good turned out to be Junk and then there were the good ones that really did the job.
Does anybody remember or have his thread saved ? ... |

For throw away filters Wix and K&N are good but take a look at these:

The telltale signs for a Wix are: 6 large holes for the oil inlet with only the black anti-drainback valve to be seen through them. There are 6 "notches" that hold the gasket in place. I did not read that particular test, just going by past tests I have read. By the way Mobil1 and K&N are the same filters K&N just has a thicker case and a nut welded on the bottom both made by Champion Labs. I think they might also make Amsoil filters.

If you change your oil and filter reguarly, Just about any oil filter that a store will sell will do the job it is intended to do.

man oh man, that is some heavy information to swallow in one setting! i tried to read it all and it got my head spinning! some good quality time is being spent here on things that i would have never known about, if it weren't for people like these guys doing it. it is almost like cracking a goverment secret! this is great to know though. i still say change your oil every 3000-3500 miles though, no matter how good your filter is!
