Ralley Wheels: What Would YOU do?
Hey Y'all, I'm new here so bear with me. I have a '70 C10 shortbed that has the original body and paint, but I added disc brakes, power steering, posi rear, 350/350 etc. I put standard (7"?) ralley wheels on it years ago when I bought it for $1500. My wife calls it our farm truck, I'm leaning more toward street... Anyway, I came across a set of 8" wide ralley wheels in good shape. Would you run wides on the rear and narrows on the front for that classic look? I have a good friend who would take the extra set for his GMC, but then I have 2 different sets of wheels... Also, thanks for the tire size input on another forum, but I'm still listening to advice regarding tire size. Everybody like Radial T/A's? THANKS and man do I love looking at 67-72 Chevy pickups! Hunter

I have 8 inch Corvette style Rallies all the way around on the burb. I prefer black wall out, but I can understand if someone wants white letters out

Hunter,
Welcome Aboard! Glad to see someone who's willing to keep with a factory look regarding rims. IMO the 8 inchers give much better tire options for anyone running larger than say a 235/75R15 tire. I'm running a set on my '92 with 10.50 mud grips (rear), and they fit great. You can run 8's all around and get the big/little look with the tires. I ran T/A's on my Camaros and found them to be really good wearing, and easy to balance. With the 8 inchers, you can easily do 265 or 275 and not bulge the sidewalls. Where you might have trouble is with the backspacing on your '70, particularly with wide tires on the front. They don't set out as far as aftermarket rims. Keep it shiny side up...SSOW ![]()

I have 345-50-15 on 8 inch rally's on the rear (STUFFED). 255-60-15 on 7 inchers on the front. This is by far the best looking combo I have seen. They are approx the same height tires. The front's are not too skinny either.

I run 15x 6 1/2"(van) ralleys up front , with a 225/75 tire. at the rear are a set of 15 x8's, with 255/70 rubber.....15 x 10's are on the bench till i can afford the tires. IMO, these trucks handle better with a little less width on rubber up front, & I like the "bigs & littles".....1 " to 1 1/2" taller at the rear. crazyL

I'm running 275x60x15 in the rear, and 215x60x15 in the front, both are radial T/A's. Truck has a mean looking stance now...

I run 8 inch Rallys all around with 245/60s up front and 275/60 in the back.
It's lowered a bunch and still doesn't rub anything. I've run 275/60s on all 4 corners on 8 inch rally wheels before under non-lowered trucks. They didn't rub either.

I've always been partial toward the "retro" look of wide tires in the rear.

I used the 8" rallys and 275/60s and then used the stock full wheel covers on top of them, wide wheel and tire= full wheel well and cap = stock look.
