look for summit brand headers in summit magazine. they are under $150.00 and are 50 state legal. As far as exhaust goes, if you just want loud and obnoxious just get rid of the muffler altogether and put dual 2 & 1/4" to 2 & 1/2" exhaust pipes and 3 & 1/2" echo tips. If you want a nice deep mellow rumble. Use a 3" flowmaster or Imco stainless performance muffler and put a 3" dump pointing straight down right after the muffler. Trust me I work at an exhaust shop.

my brother has a 98 ext. cab with 2 - 40 series flowmasters dumped. It sounds nasty, yuck. Sounds like an old log truck.

What kind of sound are you going for? If you want a deep rumble inside the cab, then go with dumps. (By the way a dual outlet 40 series dumped sounds exactly the same as a single outlet dumped. But, if later on you want to put dual tailpipes on it, a dual outlet is the way to go. If not, look for a 3" inlet 3" outlet 40 series. A delta flow 40 series will not be as loud as a regular 40 series, and a super 40 will be louder.) If you don't want the rumble in the cab then go with a tail pipe or two and put some nice chrome tips on it. Echo tips will do just that, echo the exhaust a little bit and make it louder, the bigger the echo tip the louder it will be. 3 and 1/2'' is pretty standard. If you want to be different do like I did and put dual tailpipes coming out in front of the passenger side tire. It'll get looks and a passenger with the window roll down will definitely be impressed.
