speedwarning info wanted
I'm a proud new owner and need a little help hooking it up. Can someone tell or show me how it should be wired, and where the buzzer mounts? Also, are replacement knobs available? Thanks

If I remmber it has one wire from the speed warning head to the buzzer and a keyed hot wire from the fuse block to the other terminal on the buzzer, I can look at my original harness to make sure.
Here's a pic of the correct mounting of the buzzer. |

Speedwarning is just another one of those rare options that us option freaks think we have to have, lol. It is a buzzer that mounts under the dash that buzzes when your speed reaches the preset limit. You use the knob to adjust that limit. (the second hand on the speedometer). It's a fairly hard to find setup, and when you find one, they are usually pretty expensive if the seller knows what he has.

I got mine from ebay. I see them there, and on the parts board every once in a while.

The point is, it is another option. Not a verry common one at that. Some people would ask what is the point of driving one of these trucks? Only us that drive them and love them can answer that.... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

i think it was originally an option designed primarily for fleet sales. the idea behind it was to keep the employee from speeding in the truck, or to use as a reminder when you are at the speed limit. either way, I personally don't understand why its worth so much. if someone wanted to speed, they could just turn the knob up to 120 and be done with it. if you have a problem looking at the speedo, then maybe you shouldn't drive. I just don't get it. oh well...it is kinda cool because of its oddity, I guess.

i agree with some points here..... i disagree with others. in todays world i suppose the idea of this buzzer ,and how it works may seem silly, or antiquaited ( old! ). i remember when i was a kid and cruise control was just coming out in cars. alot of people were scared of it. they thought it would not cut off and cause an accident or something. many people used the speed warning system instead. it worked great for what it was. it did exactly what it was supposed to and nothing more. finding one in working condition today is great. it is not the holy grail, but it is great to find. they remain as they were before, not for everyone tastes. that is what makes an option an option. i love them because they bring back memories from when i was growing up....
