need a map for Big Block City - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have recently come across a 454 from a '99 motorhome with bad valve guides. I got it basically for free.

in all my years of building engines of all sorts I have never done a big block. I have done repairs on them though. what I am looking for is advice on what to look for & what to expect. it is open chamber rect. ports. are these good for street use & occasional highway runs? what kind of intake to use on a fuel injected block & heads as it doesnt have the extra holes above the ports.

Not very likely that they are rectangular port heads on a motorhome motor. Collect all of the casting numbers and check them out at Mortec.com.
