Headers on an a/c truck?

I have a 72 blazer that has a/c. I am wanting to put headers on it and was wondering how you made the bracket that bolted to the manifold work? I thought I would be able to just make a spacer to make up for the thickness of the manifold but it looks like the bracket will hit the tube. Any help would be great. Pic's would be even greater. Thanks JIM

I think most of the better header mfg's sell an A/C bracket to go with their headers.

Jim,

I have mine blocked out 2" and the bracket has been modified to clear the tube on the header. Everything works great. I had to fab a new upper bracket that goes over the valve over, I'm using the tall valve covers and the stock bracket sat too low and wouldn't clear the cover.

Hey Larry, what brand/kind of headers are you running? Do you have any side view where we can see more of the total picture? Thanks, ......Jerry

Thanks a bunch for that photo Larry. I have heard a lot about these headers fitting and giving us ground clearance on a lowered truck and its good to see an actual close up shot to see how nice they fit, Are there any clearance issues on the drivers side. Do you have any pics of that side? Thanks again, ........Jerry

Jerry they fit good on both sides. The drivers side is slightly shorter and actually has better clearance. The passenger side collector is close to the floor but still clears without any problems. Keep in mind this is on a 4x4 with the motor in the rear location. If the motor was located forward there would be more room near the collector on the passenger side.

Happen to have a p/n, price or info on where you bought them? Any idea what the exhaust inlet size is? Im looking for some for a LT1 which has the D shapped ports so I need D shaped headers or at least ones bigger.

I got them through Summit Racing. Here's the link to the description, http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...&Ntt=wlk-86118 . Looks like 1 1/2" tubes to 2 1/2" collector.

72Gord just brought something to my attention. These are probably not going to work to well on a truck with a clutch. The tubes and z-bar could be modified, but probably not the best choice.
