Gear indicator question..

My gear indicator does not work ever since I owned the truck. Does anyone have a pic to see how it connects to the littel metal wire?? Is there a website that tells you how to connect it? It seems pretty simple but I cant seem to figure it out..Help!!

with mine, the black sleeve that slides over the column has all the teeth stripped out so it doesn't "catch", therefore not moving the indicator. for me all it required was electrical tape inside and out. but be sure its black tape so you don't look redneck

Be sure you don't bend the slotted piece where the indicator slides back & forth. It is made of very soft metal & once bent, it's hard to bend it back to where the indicator will slide freely. They may still be available from GM, but I'm not sure.
