There's a few sets running around here that are painted. They look real good like that with the caps and rings on them. Chrome lug nuts help too. Frankly, without the caps or rings, I personally think they look a little funny painted to match the truck.
My opinion only, and my wife says I have terrible taste, so FWIW.

I've got a set of these on my truck...
They're made by US Wheel and sold by Summit. So far, I love 'em. They're cheap, built solid, look pretty good and they're holding up pretty well in the Maine/Minnesota salt and sludge. Well, they're holding up better than the rest of the truck, anyway...

Hmm I had mine painted on the 72 before. They would have looked very nice with chrome caps, nuts and rings but I never put them on. I then painted them aluminum a couple years later . I have a couple pics of each
I have a pic or 2 here

IMO the center caps and trim rings make them look more like stock, since the factory did offer this style of rim, mostly painted white, on the mid-70 through mid-80 trucks.
If you want that factory look, you can mount the stock center caps, but you'll need to drill the 3 holes for the factory lag screws. It's tough to find aftermarket center caps that don't rust after a while. I think the body-color looks a little overdone as well, but both silver (chrome-aluminum) and white look good. Another paint option that lots of folks overlook is gray. BTW - if yours have the original paint, and you decide to repaint them white, be aware that the original paint isn't a true white. Check your colors first, or you might be suprised how "white" white can be. Have fun...SSOW

I know a guy who has black ones with all black tires (no raised white lettering) and chrome lugnuts. It actually looks pretty cool! IMO, later Doug

I have white spokes on my truck, but mine are 8 lug since it's a 3/4 ton. Mine were getting rusty so I sanded 'em and re-painted 'em white and they look pretty cool.
