front disc brakes
I have front disc brakes on the 72 chevy and they are dragging slightly. I cannot findout why. I replaced everything upfront. new rotors new pads new calipers new brake hoses rubber and metal, new bearings (inner and outer) new races in the rotors and I am still having the same problem as i was before i replaced everything. After a short trip you can feel the rim and all is warm and you can smell the brakes. Thanks guys for all the help. The truck has power brakes as well if that helps.

I would suspect that the master cylinder is keeping pressure on the system.
If there is no play in the rod that pushes the master cylinder piston, pressure can remain on the calipers. You have replace the hoses so the master cylinder would be the next thing to check. Jim |

JimKshortstep4x4 is right on the money. In most cases, if both are dragging, it is something that controls both, (master Cyl), if only one is dragging, it is the caliper or the caliper slides. Rough or un-lubricated slides are the biggest causes.

I would also try backing off the adjusting rod alittle from the brake pedal to the master. If it is adjusted too far out, and will always be putting pressure on the master, like if you had your foot on the brake.
