NICE! Put down a 99 ECSB Vortec V8 tonight!!

So I was hanging out with some friends, and I notice she has a 99 ECSB Z71 with the Vortec 350. So I asked her if she'd like to try her luck against my old truck. So, we line up and go at it...I can't believe it...but I literally WALKED away from that truck HARD! By the end of the ¼ I must have had 6 carlengths on em'!
I thought those Vortec 350's were better than that???

nah man, they're not that quick. I pulled a mid 90s 2wd Z71 in my 2.4L Z24 Cavalier. 150hp. I could pull him from any speed, lol. I raced him three times and each time I just walked. The best was right off a launch though, drop it hard at 2800 and powershift second. Easy 2 cars

Street racing sucks! I hope that you get busted next time. It would be real funny when they take your truck, license, and fine the crap out of you wouldn't it?

I have seen soo many people nearly get hit or killed around here from kids who do that kind of crap on public streets or highways.

Take it to the strip if you feel like doing that.

yeah you shouldn't have jumped down the guy's throat and gave him the benefit of the doubt, but I TOTALLY AGREE STREET RACING SUCKS! If you're like going somewhere with someone and you take off from a light with no one around, them sure, knock yourself out. But if you make it habbit to race anyone and everyone at every stoplight, or you go looking for races, then SHAME ON YOU. If your pride is so great you can't turn down a race, then take it to a strip, or at least a back country road.

I admit, when I was younger, I did it a few times. But looking back on it, it sure was stupid of me. I am glad I grew up and grew out of that stuff. I now go to the track and participate...no chance of losing my license or vehicle there for going over 55 MPH.

Doesn't matter where you are racing...residential, highway, or backroads...think of all the things that could go wrong. When you race at a track, there are guard rails, bystanders are a safe distance away (usually), helmets are required, and there are trainded paramedics in case of an accident.

I am not angry at Timspeed nor am I steaming mad, he can do what he wants, but it is people who do this kind of stuff outside of raceways that end up killing or injuring people..whether it is on purpose or not. Look up the number of people killed or injured from stuff like this, and then tell me you think it is OK.

Now yes, Timspeed could have been at the track during this race, but I highly doubt it based on some of his other post about how fast his truck was in the past vs. another C10. If he was in fact at the track, then I will eat crow and delete all my responses to correct myself.

Also, BTW...If you are wondering why street racing irritates me, and why I replied the way I did, I have my latest example. Last night, on the way home from the casino with my fiance, I was nearly hit head on by two cars racing. I was on a single lane each way local backroad, coming around a corner at about 55 MPH...as soon as I rounded the corner I saw two pairs of headlight coming my way...one in the other lane, and one in mine. I had to slow down and pull onto the shoulder so these two fools could try and prove to each other which one was faster. As I pulled over, they both flew by me at near 100 MPH I bet...and the guy that was in my lane didn't even bother to slow down or pull behind the guy he was racing or trying to pass. Like I said, this was on a local backroad, at 11PM, when and where there is usually not too much traffic.
