vacuum gauge

I know that the stock line was metal, is there any way I can go from metal on the back of the cluster with a clamp to a rubber hose that goes to the carb? Will that provide accurate readings?

I'VE HAD A RUBBER LINE ON MY FACTORY VAC. GAGE TO MY CARB. FOR 8 YEARS. IT SEEMS TO WORK O-K. IT SEEMS LIKE I USED FUEL INJECTION FUEL LINE , OR SOME GOOD TYPE FUEL LINE INSTEAD OF REGULAR VAC, HOSE. JOHN

I use a rubber line on mine, I took the gauge to a auto parts place and found a fitting that screwed on that had a barb type hose connector on the other end, then I just slid the hose onto that.
