Enough to make a grown truck guy cry. :(
Finding an almost rust free 67-72 cab here in Pa. is about the same odds as getting struck by lightning. But I found one. Check out this hack job on one of the finest cabs I've ever seen in our junkyards. This truck is virgin and even had the original working T-3 headlights! Low mileage but box is missing in action and someone bought the doors and seat. (I'll just bet them doors were rust free!)
This is a 1968 C-20 that has (had) a beautiful cab. The floor are rust free, it still has the original rockers and cab corners all of which are rust free with on holes to be found, and wouldn't you just know it, some knucklehead hacked the whole rear section out of it! This could have another section welded back into it I guess... In the first pic, we see the back. Rear window was removed and a huge opening was cutout, then the rest of the window area was patched over with sheetmetal and screws. The second pic shows this horrifying "monster garage" hack job from the inside. Note the floor. I've never seen a rear floor with no rust/holes before.

That was probably cut from the company that put a camper on the back. That would explain the lack of rust and the low miles it apears to have.

That has to be the easiest cab to fix of all that I have seen.
I was lucky with my truck, the previous owner had repaired all the rust for me, and did it the right way! I know because he took pictures the entire way.... Grab that cab and fix it, I would think the back could be easily replaced.

Good find-patch er on up! As mentioned above, I bet it did have a camper or cube on the back once.

Ignore the red lettering...
Fine69 has this camper at his place, I think the whole back is ripped off by now, bigger and better plans, but the back of the cab has the exact same treatment done to it. I just wouldn't have guessed they'd do it to a 3/4 ton truck. I had figured it was a one ton only conversion. |

Looking at your pics again, som,e one ripped the camper off of that ruck and used it as a truck...like with a flat bed or something.

I have a 68 1 ton that was cut like that. It was an easy fix. Way easier than fixing rust. You can see in the pics how we repaired it. Now go out and get that cab now!! Hurry!!

I would get the cab but a few reasons why I don't. 1) I really have no way of getting it home. 2) I already repaired the cabs on my 2 trucks, 1 is a high hump and this is the small hump so I really don't need it. 3) While it would be a money maker to buy, repair and sell, it would probably cost at least $150+? and that's money I really shouldn't tie up right now. (not a good time)
With that said, it deserves to go to someone else that can rescue it and use it. If anyone wants this cab, let me know and I'll give directions. P.S. Im very surprised to learn that a company would do such a hackjob. Those metal panels to fill in the rear window are held in with phillips screws and you can see how badly the hole was hacked out. yeck! I thought for sure this was the work of a redneck farmer. Was thinking, would this truck most likely have had bucket seats? How else would you walk through the opening? Sure would have liked to get those if it did! BTW, this is a 3 speed on the column 6 cylinder truck. Probably not the best running gear for a camper. ???

I thought that's what they might charge for a cab. Was thinking he might knock some off since it has the big "cave hole" in it.
Looks like you get first crack since you asked first. Have to be fair. If you don't want it, post here and I'll tell the next person in line.

The camper trucks did have bucket seats, and with no console or anything in the center of the cab. They put trim and plastic and sturr to cover the hack job of the door, and I really don't remember what was done to hide the window filler...I never really noticed that when looking at mike's.
Here is a shot of his as sitting in the doorway at the back of the cab. |

I have only seen one camper conversion...on a '69 CST/30...it had what appeared to be a leather boot that acted like an o-ring between the cab and camper body.

Matt,
There are a few hairline cracks near the lower spoke area. I don't recall any cracks in the outer rim. This is just by memory. Bob
