Help!! Cheyenne Super - fake? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've recently been looking at yet another '72 chev and I have some
concerns. This truck is advertised as a 1972 Chev Cheyenne Super
3/4 4x4 long bed. When I showed up to look at it, it had the"super"
emblems on the front fenders, woodgrain trim etc. But the interior
didn't have any of the markings that I have seen in other "supers".
ie no glove box emblem or woodgrain, cluster no woodgrain etc.

The owner (2nd) says its a super ........ does anyone happen to
know the code ID option number for the cheyenne super?

If it's a cheyenne super it will have a headliner with trim. If you remove the trim (which is easily added by people) there will be elongated holes that are from the factory. They are very hard to duplicate. It is where the headliner trim snaps into the roof. Hope this helps.

BTW...if it was not apparent that code that Jeremy-9 was talking about will be on the glove box door. They might have replaced the glove box door but those elongated holes around the inside of the cab roof (that hold in the headliner) will not be easy to duplicate and might be a better indicator if the door has been replaced. I hope someone is not trying to decieve you...that is not good.

There are several things to look for , first and foremost look for the YE9 option code onthe glove box. The headliner is part of the z84 cheyenne package and will be present in the super as well. Look for options like bright hub caps and the tailgate should have the stainless or chrome cover on the handle. Many times the fakes have the super emblems in the incorrect position, i.e. the "r" on the super will line up with the 10 instead of being at the front and under the "c" on the passenger side, and often people will put them too close or too far apart from the cheyenne emblem, there should be a gap of about 1/8th of an inch or actually even less but not tight to the cheyenne emblem. YE9 is the big one and also seatcover will be houndstooth, green/white, black on white, or black on blue, no vinyl unless buckets then only vinyl. Harold
