Just found this on Ebay, and all I can say is WOW! I am going to send this guy an email and ask a ton of questions.

I love the custom harley look(like West Coast Choppers builds), but I can't afford the price tag that goes along with them. This MAY be the best of both worlds.

The guy has 2 of these for sale, and he has 100% feedback.

It's not a Harley. It is called an Ultima. They are pretty cheap, and have the looks of a custom Harley.

I must say that is a pretty nifty looking bike. How do you like this one? This little jewel resides in my garage next to my '72 Cheyenne Super.

Yep, that's an Ultima kit bike. There are a TON of manufacturers out there. The kits normally go for about $11,000 US. I'm seriously considering one (from a different vendor, perhaps) when I get the Chevelle finished. Maybe next year.

All though I am a Harley kinda guy, I have to agree with the outragious prices on some of these Harleys today. If you are mechanically inclined you can actually build your own for less money than buying a new one. A few years back there was no way of doing this unless you had a bunch of buddies that had spare parts kicking around that you could get donated or at an exceptional price. Brand new motors can be had for as low as $3k more performance more $$, The shop that rebuilt my shove sells a 145CI fully tricked for 15K Frames range from as little as $600 up depending on customization and mfg. Frontends used about $300+ to new from $1400+. Good shopping at the swap meets for sheet metal, Frontends, tires, wheels, carbs and the oddball misc stuff and the installation of new motor & Trans could setup you up with a big twin Harley for less than $7500 if you keep it to basics looking for the deals not the state of the art fancy Billet, Hi Tech BS to put it together. These peices can be added later after you having it running and want to individualize it for your self. If you want to build it using some custom peices, some chromed items, not over done look to spend 13-18K get radical with big inch motor and bunches of chrome and fancy stuff, well the sky's the limit. I put my shovel on the road 15yrs ago and had less than $3500 in it with a brand new 93" motor, it may have not been the prettiest but it was solid & reliable.

i`m a harley mechanic and i`m building a special construction softail fatboy. i get great deals on parts and so far a have about $7,000 into it and need about $4k more to finish. they are not as cheap to build as you would think with all of the kit bikes out there but they are still alot cheaper than buying a new harley for $20k and then spending about another $10k to get it to look and run the way you want it too. we just had a customer buy a brand new road king for about $25k and then spend another $25-$30k on acc. and a new s&s 124" twin cam, harley 6 spd, custom paint, wheels, chrome, ect. some people just have too much money.

The bar I hang out at here in Milwaukee has a lot of Outlaws that frequent, and many of them are getting tired of Harley and the way corporate is forgetting who kept Harley alive during the lean AMF days. Like Bowtie67 said, used to be a day not too long ago, you could put together a good cheep ride. I had a 76 FX Superglide that I pieced together for $2500 in the mid 80's, now I see beat-up ones in the paper for $10K. I'm almost ready to put together a kit bike, or get a big block powered BossHoss.

Why would people like that even bother, They go look at a used bike and it's to much money then they go buy brand new and pay someone to rebuild it to what they want, He replaced the motor and trans and he basically paid 25grand for a rolling chasses, no let me rephrase that he bought a partial frame and sheet metal with a frontend for 25grand and then paid someone to rebuild it. This isnt to much money, he is an Idiot that has never probally owned a Harley before causing guys like me and a few others that have ridden most of out lives to have to pay more.

actually he has had many bikes and has been riding longer than i`ve been alive. he had a bigdog but it was stolen after 2 weeks. he took the insurance check and decided he wanted a totally custom bagger. and to clear something up, your were pretty close on what he paid for but actually, it was the frame, swingarm and the wiring. that was pretty much the only thing he did`nt change. the shop foreman, the guy who built the bike, has known him for years. basicly, he is at a point in his life where he can just point and say, "gimme". it must be nice but the funnest parts about harleys is doing it yourself and making it what you want. i was all set to buy a new one and decided to finish my softail project instead. should be done by the end of the year, i hope.

Yup, agree with everyone on this subject especially the prices of Harley's. My buddy owns the dealership up here in Winnipeg but I still can't afford to move to a newer harley. I tried to work a trade last year on anniversary heritage springer (wanted it bad!) but couldn't even strike a deal on a demo bike I could live with. My 83 shovel got a complete ground up last year right down to the rubber and I guess it really will go to the grave with me but the more I think about it the more I figure its like my bow tie projects anyway. Worth more every year and I can build the damn thing myself. Just about anyone can afford a shovel but it will take as much time and money as a sweet bow tie to make it pretty. I'll leave the new harley's to the guys who can actually ride more than 4 months a year.

It amazes me that there are so many custome bikes out there that they choose only really to make about 3 models of which to choose their design. I havent seen anyone and I am surprised at this is that no one builds a custom dresser, there all Softail frames, hardtail frames or a compilation of the two put together. I had a lady cut me off a year after I bought my 96 Road King and the Dealership wanted to total the bike. I told them if they totaled it I'd be buying a BMW becuase I was fed up with Harley's prices. The fully loaded Dresser BMW, it could out handle, out run, certainly out last most Harleys, had a lot more options including a CD Jukebox, adjustable seat, adjustable windshield, hand warmers, and was way cheaper.

daytec makes a rubber mounted frame that they make bags and a fairing for and it looks like a custom bagger but it`s not a kit bike as far as i know. you would have to buy the frame and everything seperately. i agree that the prices are too high but as long as we have the yuppie scum wanting to be "outlaw bikers", the price will keep going up. it makes me sick.

I rode my 85 HD Lowrider down to the Black Hill Rally in Sturgis SD. this week... you can BUY any color radical custom you want if you got the coin. All these were for sale....and there was plenty of others to choose from also. Its pretty radical the amount of bolt together customizers that are out there now.
