how hard to take apart NP241 transfer case
on the newer chevy's (88-98), how hard is it to take apart the two halfs of the case of a New Process 241 transfer Case , becuase the chain in mine has stretched out and is now grinding, and i need to get the case apart, so i can put a new chain on it (which from chevy is $200 just for the chain itself)
if possible, i would like to just be able to drop the driveshaft and pull off the rear half of the case and be able to replace the chain while the transfer case is still bolted to the tranny, or will i have to pull the whole Tcase off to replace it |

I believe that you can do it under the truck, but I would just pull the t-case - it is much easier to work on it on a bench. The 241 is a really simple case. All you need is a good pair of retaining ring pliers besides your basic tools.
