Lowering the rear..
I have my truck dropped 2.5/4 with western chassis stuff. I was a longbed fleetside heavy half (big 10 for you chevy guys ) Now its a short stepside. The rear end is waay to high, I'm thinking of going another inch or so in the front and was wondering what my options were for the rear. I really don't want to do the flip kit route. Would swapping to a set of leafs from a regular half ton net me any drop? My leafs have like 12 springs in them. I dont really wanna take some out as hitting the salvage yard and getting a stock 1/2 ton setup would be just as easy.
My leaf springs are like 5" longer than the ones on the shortbed I measured off of to get my demisions for the bed swap. Is this the same for all longbeds or just the difference between the regular half ton and big 10??? Thanks guys Paul

Sounds like they have 56" long springs instead of 52", you could just as easily remove the some leaves from the spring pack also. Just take it down to like 4 leaves and the overload.

Ya, I have lots of pics and have plans to make a how-to for 73-87.com. But I need to get off my butt and get it done. I've been busy finishing up the engine rebuild and now trying to tune the sucker up. Once I get it running right I'm going to start on that. I took many pics during and after the swap. Most of my before pics are paper though and not in my computer.
