Vac guage

I got a Vac guage it has the small vac line. I have heard not to use it when should I switch just after I go thru the firewall? And what kind of adapter do I need to change it to the size hose I need?

Thanks

I used to run one i think i was using some kinda clear hose that came with it but it sucked so i got plain black vaccum line that fit on the gauge and put it on the Tee behind the carb.

i took all the vacuum crap off my truck except the advance from the distributor. It also helps that i got a new Edelbrock 600cfm so i could get rid of the old crap.
but the plain black tubing is the best way to go, just replace it every decade or so
