Were the letters a sticker or actually stamped? To be honest, I've never heard of a repo with stamped letters; it's because of the stamped CHEVROLET that they cost so much more.

If it was stamped with the CHEVROLET then it is a repro from GM. They are the only ones who can stamp it. They are worth the money and fit great! Here's a pic!

I bought a repo inner & outer grill for my 69 and its a very nice one (Chevyduty), the letters are stamped and it fit really nice also. One thing not to forget is make sure you keep your old brackets and rivet them on to your new one (I tossed my originals and had to go to the wreckers and replace them) The only thing was I had to send it back 3 TIMES due to sloppy shipping (the first two were bent) They should pack them in a molded styrofoam box like your DVD ect. ...the letters were stamped in it ...thats why i could'nt figure out why it was so cheap compared to the normal $450-$500 range...there book list them for $365 with the stamped letters...maybe the guy there was wrong cause i asked if it was gm or repro and he said repro....
