Road Trip MN to WY

I'm heading from Minnesota to Wyoming on September 19th or 20th. If anybody needs anything moved from here to there or back about a week or two later give me a shout. The last time I made the trip I took US 169 from the Twin Cities down to St. James and picked up a MN highway from there to I-90. I took that until about the Missouri river and headed south to Nebraska. I took a US highway (20 I think) from there all the way to Lander, Wyoming. I liked that route because I avoided going over any passes but I have taken I-94 and snuck down through Beartooth pass.

I probably won't have my truck back together by then so I'll probably be driving my 2004 Explorer. Because of the vehicle I don't want any grease dripping parts. And 8-foot bedsides probably won't fit. But if this sounds like it will work for you let me know.

Dump the explorer and drive me back a short box fleet or a nice K5 Blazer. Not fussy on the color as long as either of them are OCHRE.

Go easy on the Explorer or I might tell people that you have one.

OK then, buy a trailer and tow the explorer with my new shortbox or blazer.
and honestly, I don't know how that Explorer got in my driveway........I must have had a weak moment.

Going to Lander Wy? You could drop me off there. I grew up just over the Wind River Mtn. Range from there... Are you hunting in Wyoming?

Yes I am. A high school buddy moved to DuBois about 10 years ago and started shoeing horses. He now lives in Lander. The two previous times I pulled a general elk license we hunted up the East Fork. This time he has other plans but we may end up there eventually.

The plan now is for me to purchase a bow license and take a crack at them before all the gun hunters show up on October 1st.

My father, brother and I hunted every year and generally waited for the first big snow to push them down out of the heavy timber, of course our objective was meat and not the antlers. Best of luck with the elk hunt!

I have a T-shirt that has a picture of two mountain men, hiding behind their dead mules, which are stuck full of arrows, furiously loading their muzzleloaders, and the caption reads 'Damn Bowhunters'. Well, being a muzzleloader guy, I think it's funny.
