I all I just got a new cigarette ligther for my truck and was wondering how to hook up the wires. I had the old one but there were no wires coming from the back of it so I just bought a bought a whole new setup. The new lighter did not come with any instructions so I am in the black on this... It has two wires a red wire, and a green wire where do they go?

All of the lighters I've seen have just one wire and it goes to the battery so that it can be used without turning on the key. Does the lighter have a light? If so, that might be what the green wire is for. The lighter is grounded to the dash. Hope this helps. Good luck and keep on truckin'........Jerry

The red wire goes to a (single) spade connector in the fusebox it should be marked right on the fusebox, and the green wire should be for the light buit-in to the lighter, I was going to splice that wire into the heater light wire so when you turn your headlights on at night it will power up the cigar lighter lamp also (have not had time to do mine yet) there are other ways you could wire it (the lamp) but all you need is a 12 volt power source that has power when the ignition is "on" so you don't run down your battery, hope this helps, Doug

Plug that green wire into the spade on fusebox labeled cluster. That's what I used to hook up the USA-1 radio's illumination feed wire too. Radio lights and dims along with cluster lights. I'd assume the lighted cig lighter would work the same way. Don't splice it.

O.k. I tried hooking the red wire up to the fuse block at cig. and it sparked like crazy! so I placed it in the next one to the right and it blew the fuse. So I tried the green wire and the light works great, but the red wire sparks whats wrong?

Either your wire is chafed and shorting out, or the lighter is shortrd out inside.
