Hi all,

After purchasing my 69 short step I found this board. What a blast these old trucks are. I had low oil pressure problems and decided I should rebuild the 350 in the truck. I also decided that a 700r4 tranny would be the way to go. Well today I finally got it all back together and took it for its first drive.

Totally different truck. Motor has more power than it did before and the trans is nice. Truck looks good but could use work but I'm happy to be cruising again. Thanks to all for the help.

That is one clean looking motor!

How in the world did you get those headers to fit??? It looks like you have 0 clearance on the driver side at the crossmember. Maybe it's just the picture.

Sweet looking power plant, but what I really want to see is a side view of the truck itself, it looks awesome!!

Thanks for the compliments,

Just enough room on the headers. The passenger side required a little adjustment made to the frame, I didn't want to dent in the header. I had moved the motor ahead into the v-8 position. I just need to work on the trailing arms and install some drop springs/shocks in the back and it will be ready for a road trip. I have to pick up some 5 on 5 corvette ralleys I bought from a board member.

what headers are those? And is your 700r4 electic or hydraulic?

Not sure of the brand name of the headers but they look very similar to those on an old camaro I once had. 700R4 is hydraulic lock up. Rebuilt by local shop and using bowtie overdrives cable and bracket.
