I have a 97 1/2 ton Z71 and am wondering what components i need to install factory keyless entry. it already has pwr locks. is it worth finding used parts and how hard is it to install?

I would consider going to a business in your area to see how much an aftermarket one would be installed. I recently had a keyless entry and remote start put on my 1989 and it cost $325 out the door.

You can get a standard stand alone keyless entry installed for around $125. The remote start is nice. I use mine very often with no problems at all for over 2 yrs.

You can get a keyless entry kit on ebay for less than $40. Not difficult at all to install.

If you have your RPO codes, you can see if it was factory installed. If so you can go buy the transmitter and program it.
