will this brake booster work on my 69? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

we have a 84 buick le sabre limited sitting in the field my bro wrecked, and i was curious if the brake booster and master cylinder will work on my 69? will it hurt the wheel cylinders/etc on the 4 wheel manual drum system?

i dont think it will fit the mounting braket will be diffrent

im not really worried about bracketry-- if the brackets dont work then i'll cut/drill/rig it to work... only thing i was worried about is it not working with my brake system or not being able to get the rod right

you might be able to jimmy rig somethin but u should just ask some board members about selling one it would be worth the money and that way ud know it would work for sure

I wouldn't do it myself...and I am the only one at work with the balls to ask the boss if his 18 year old daughter is knocked up when she alloped (or however you spell it) last month.

Josh, I would not consider doing that kind of brake swap. First off, your truck, if drum all around would not react well to a disc/drum master cylinder/proportioning valve setup. The booster is not that big a deal as it just adds additional push into the master cylinder. You might try mounting the booster and if you stock master cylinder mounts to it, give it a shot but I would drive the farm a whole lot before i brought it out onto the road. If something goes wrong --better to wipe out a cow or two verses you or Jewels!!!

from the sounds of it i'll just wait untill i can change to disc or get a drum/drum booster. the reason im wanting to do this is because ever sence i bought the truck ive had brake problems, brakes locking up, bad wheel cylinders, cant get the air outta the lines... even when the brakes are fully bleed you have to put it in nuetral to stop, the brakes cant hold back the engine (it also has no stall at all, you let off the brakes and it goes.)

Huck, yes I am still working there...I had an interesting conversation with him a month ago about personality flaws...and I used all his flaws as examples! It was kinda fun. The two of us read each other quite well. It has taken me 2 years to get good at it(I am normally quite good at figuring ppl out) but the best part is though, everyone else is afraid of him, ppl who's worked for him for 10 years, and they won't even call him an old man. He hates it when I call him that. heh heh heh
