Recalls and Svc Bulletins
I was curious if most dealerships still honor older service bulletins and recalls, i found some data at AllData.com that has all that info but i am a bit confused on the way they do older vehicles, says by title/VIN letter/number. For example mine starts with a T so the info is at http://www.alldata.com/TSB/23/762338CV.html but it says there a 292-V6... either someone replaced that with a standard 350 a LONG time ago or who knows what... for other trucks with 350 recalls, i saw plenty for a truck with 350 V8 (VIN L) at http://www.alldata.com/TSB/23/762338BO.html
Says for the V6 VIN "T" model, only the HEI and fuel tank are problems yet the 350 model shows a long list of items... do i qualify since i have the 350 or not? I would like to have these things checked on my truck but as money is something that i do not have, it would be nice to know what would be repaired/replaced for free by the dealerships. Thanks in advance.

Did you ever hear all the stink about these trucks suposidly being death traps when a News orgnazation put model rocket engines under the side saddle gas tanks and ignites them after they broadside the truck hard enough to rupture said tank? That's what the fuel take one is about. Some sheild retrofit.
The HEI I am not sure about. It may be only on the V6. If it run I would not worry about it. 76 was the second year HEI was standard. probably some problem that long since has been delt with. There is also a recall on all non A/C trucks with non clutch fans. They crack around the rivets and the blades fly off. Only effected Non A/C trucks with solid drive fans.

A 1976 Pickup won't have a 292 V6, it would have a 292 Inline 6. The first v6 offered was a 262 V6 (4.3L) and it wasn't availible before 1984. If yours had an inline 6, the HEI that was in it went with the inline as they won't fit a V8.
If your truck is a 1976, I would think everything would have been fixed by now. AND as easy as it is to work on these I wouldn't take it to a $60-80 and hour dealership to get it checked out.

i know about the Inline 6/V6 thing that was a simple typo.... based on the HEI being a problem in all of them i am planning on replacing that because of the ignition problems that i am having...
i am just wondering if any of the recalls are still in efect and have the possiblity to be repaired if needed?
