Shoulder belt install - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am looking for some advice on how ot install shoulder belts in a 74 k-10. The problem is that there are a set of factory(?) speakers in the very spot where the upper belt needs to bolt up. I have found the backing hardware that goes inside the rear pillar, but am not sure if there is going to be enough material to hold them in place in case of a collision as a good part of the front of the pillar is removed. If anyone has run into this problem or has any ideas on how to solve it, I would like to hear your ideas. Thanks in advance.

Someone must have cut the rear pillar out then, because there were no factory speakers located in the pillar. All of the trucks from 73-87 had the bolt there for the shoulder belts. If you have speakers there, someone hacked the truck to get them there. Crossy ran into the same problem on one of his trucks. The only way to get them in there is to weld up the hole with a plate that has a seatbelt anchor bolt attached to it.

Captkaos, Thanks for the reply. I kind of figured that I would have to fabricate a patch of some kind, but was hoping to find an easier way. Anyway thank you for the info it is appreciated! MCC
